图示是Spencer于1958年设计的史氏玩具飞机的扑翼机构，其动作原理是利用橡皮筋作为动力源带动编号为28的曲柄做旋转运动。由于曲柄穿过编号11的左、右翅膀中编号30的两个滑槽，所以当曲柄旋转时即可带动左、右翅膀做反复拍打动作。
